Dead, like the King

This story is still developing. We may not know the truth for a while, yet. But tonight's news reported that the King of Pop had a live-in Dr. Feelgood, plying him with OxyContin and shooting him up with Demerol. The doctor had been hired by the promoters of Jacko's upcoming tour, to keep him "healthy."

According to TMZ.com, the source for all things titillating and lurid, "Michael Jackson had a habit of getting Demerol injections -- he even had a special name for them. We're told Jackson called it 'health tonic.' He would have a doctor inject him because, we're told, he didn't like needles. Our sources have told us Jackson was injected with Demerol at 11:30 AM the day he died. Shortly thereafter Jackson went into cardiac arrest."

Hmmm... I can't help but wonder if the King of Pop bought it on the can, like the King of Rock 'n Roll.

Well, basically, the poor dumb ass was just a plain ol' junkie. I know he is/was the King of pop and the Thriller album is all they say it is, but he was junkie and he stayed home and he stayed high....very pitiful. He had turned into a frail little white girl long ago and the sycophants and the quacks that hung on to his misery couldn't add anything to his life but deception.
He had gotten out of his personal legal troubles by the skin of his nose and even then, he was probably guilty.

His career and personal decisions were all done under the influence of Dr. Snapp and the cocktail of drugs that were working best for his isolation and although it's freaky to us, probably made perfect sense to an addict. Loans against equity and lavish mansions and former friends that went unpaid are part of an addicts MO not to mention the kids....one of which looks like Macauely Culkin's dna.

Once again, great graphics by Mr. Shapiro.

Thanks for the compliment.

I can't help making comparisons with Elvis here. The transformations, the isolation and yes, the hangers-on. Elvis had the Memphis Mafia and Michael had the likes of Deepak Chopra, Elizabeth Taylor and Liza with a Z. Michael had a real monkey for a friend. Elvis' was porcelain...

He was an accident waiting to happen
Most accidents happen at home
Maybe he should've gone out more often
Maybe he should've answered the phone

Hip-shakin' shoutin' in gold lame'
That's how he earned his regal sobriquet
Then he threw it all away
For a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

From a shotgun shack singing Pentecostal hymns
Through the wrought iron gates to the TV room
He had a little world, it was smaller than your hand
It's a rockabilly ride from the glitter to the gloom

Left behind by the latest trends
Eating fried chicken with his regicidal friends
That's how the story ends
With a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

Hip-shakin' shoutin' in gold lame'
That's how he earned his regal sobriquet
Then he threw it all away
For a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

Oddly, Zevon lived and died right here in this complex. He had two apartments next door to each other, one was his studio. I did quite a bit of work for him in the '90s. One acoustic that he loved and wanted me to finish it with car primer gray....no frills.

Alas, another of your brushes with fame!

In my opinion, Mr. Bad Example was one of the best singer-songwriters ever, with the ability to compose strong melodies and incredibly insightful and clever lyrics. It is a shame that most only know him for a novelty song. I read the bio his ex-wife wrote and he was self-absorbed and self-destructive, generally a despicable human being. The book was difficult at times to read. Thankfully, his music endures.
