Network '08

The most anticipated film of the fall is the sequel to Paddy Chayefsky's Network, in which Howard Beale implores his viewers to go to their windows and scream out, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

And nobody does.

Apathy is king and the ratings be damned.

anybody that expects the government to be the solution will always feel let down, abandoned, and mad as hell. ...especially the fed. those guys are the enemy, not the answer grasshopper. granted, they should do their job as described in the constitution (ever read it?) and i'll add one more modern day upgrade...roads and bridges. that's really all they can handle. ha, names like pelosi, kennedy, bush, etc......ha.

All your points may be spot-on, but this post is about apathy the debilitating illness that has infected this entire country. The pathology is not partisan. Apathy is not blue or red. There are some who actually make the analogy that the current administration has turned back the clock to the days of Tailgunner Joe, the Red Menace and the commie witch hunts. And once the fear fell and the color coding turned bland, the populace fell into a mass somnambulant state. Maybe the cinema of the mind will run a double feature, and we will follow Network with Don Siegel's original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." Fear not-- the Pod People will not rise up.

As for the constitution. I've heard of it. Wasn't that the document that laid down the laws of the land? Last I heard George and Dick shredded it and tossed it in an incinerater.

apathy and debilitating illness??? last year at this time it was all just one big party with folks getting overpriced homes for no money down and cheap gas with moms running around in behemoth vehicles the size of a school bus drinking perrier by the case with their insolent vermin larva demanding to be spoon fed....now there's apathy. yeah, i guess so....they're not pod people, they're just ignorant. they ignore. it's like the unhealthiest people in the world wanting free health care....apathy..no ignorance.. irresponsible behavior by folks demanding to be spoiled a little longer.
